We wrap up Season 2 of the Neon Gutter with a Bonus Episode of “Fever Pitch.” And you know what bonus means. It means you’re getting the leftover slop. It’s like sticking around Sizzler until closing time and getting whatever popcorn shrimp nobody ate.
Instead of shrimp, we invite you to join us in watching the deservedly forgotten 1985 Ryan O’Neal movie “Fever Pitch” about a sportswriter who finds himself spiraling deep into the perils of the Neon Gutter while writing a story about gambling addiction.
The movie can be streamed from Archive.org RIGHT HERE. Be sure to have it queued up so you can sync it with our commentary. Otherwise, you’re just listening to us yammering without the visual appeal of roulette, slots, dice, topless ladies, and guys getting beat up.
There are loads of shots of 80s Vegas and gambling, henchmen, a prostitute with a heart of gold, a lady named Boobsie Babs, handball, plus a plot and writing that just may explain why this movie has been buried deep in the bowels of the MGM archives and was nominated for four Razzies.
